The job

By the end of your training, you will be well qualified to perform all tasks related to the mechanical systems in machines and manufacturing systems. You will be given responsibility requiring you to organise your workload and be proactive. Through the guidance of your mentor you will gain a thorough understanding of your chosen field.

Three examples:

You build and modify machines, devices or tools for manufacturing Schaeffler products, part of the Maintenance department tasks.
You carry out repairs and maintenance on our machines, this would normally include electrical and mechanical repairs.
Be involved in the manufacturing of our products, responsible for setting and running of the various assembly lines and ensure the high quality of the products.

The minimum educational requirement is GCSE Level Grades A – C; including Maths and/or Science

The training

After receiving well-rounded basic training, you will:

• Learn basic engineering knowledge and skills
• Product knowledge with an understanding of engineering drawings
• Understand Quality-related topics
• Carry out line change-overs unaided
• Implement engineering solutions to remove problems
• Ergonomic principles in relation to operator positions
• Achieve NVQ Level 2 & 3, key skills, basic Health & Safety requirements
• Additional Academic Qualifications
• Be skilled to Springer level after 4 – 5 years

Training lasts 3-4 years
